Early Work

Brian’s early work focused on the streets of Manchester where he grew up. He recorded the city’s old character and way of life and its redevelopment, its terraced streets and new tower blocks.   

Few of the pictures from this time can now be found, but the catalogues from his earliest exhibitions included titles such as Mersey Bank Evening, Corner Shop, Hulme and Demise of Collyhurst.

Paintings were also completed in Ireland, Anglesey and Majorca during this time.
